EWP Project
EWP (Emergency Watershed Protection) Project:
The Emergency Watershed Program (EWP) is a federally funded program (out of USDA) to help recover watersheds that have been damaged by disasters such as flooding, fire, etc. The program dovetails with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), which is a service from the USDA that employs state-level expertise to work with local communities on natural resource issues. The details on the EWP can be found here: https://www.nrcs.usda.gov/resources/guides-and-instructions/ewp-sponsor-resources
As a result of the 2021 fire and the ensuing flooding and erosion of Pack Creek, the Pack Creek Water Company Board of Trustees is considering if and how the PCWC should be involved in the EWP (Emergency Watershed Protection) Project. The documentation link below gives some background on the threat these events may pose to our water supply and the roles of various entities involved including PCWC shareholders.
The PCWC’s approach to the Pack Creek EWP Project will affect all shareholders as it may have an impact on our aquifer and supply of water in the future, and if the board determines it is necessary to intervene, there may be a special assessment applicable to all shareholders. The Board will keep shareholders up to date on all relevant findings and decisions and welcomes input from Shareholders at any time.
